Weeee!! I joined the Car Coop this weekend!
I took a car out for the first time this week to do some errands. To my great delight and surprise, the car I booked was much closer than expected. I came out the side door of my apartment building and there it was! Now that’s convenience...

I highly recommend it if you don’t wish to buy a car, but sometimes require one for special errands around town. The vancouver co-op has cars parked in spots all over the city and members can book any one that they wish. It's really easy to get set-up and the booking process is extremely straightforward.
Speaking of cars...
If you happen to have a diesel car, you can now get it fitted for bio-diesel... especially since Vancouver has its own bio-diesel station!

About Bio-diesel
Biodiesel is a clean burning alternative fuel that is produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biodiesel reduces greenhouse gas emissions and lowers hydrocarbons and particulate matter. Biodiesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend.

Two Can Dance
Thanks so much to my friends who came out to the In the House show “Titillating Tales” last Friday night… it is so wonderful to see your loving faces and feel your support.
“Randy Andy” (aka andre russo from urban beat swing) was great to work with, and it’s only the second time I’ve ever performed Swing. (it was swing-burlesque, very fun) We plan to perform this act again sometime soon, so I’ll keep you posted!
I was inspired to do this act because I’ve been taking west coast swing classes one night a week. It's amazing how spending just one hour a week on something can lead to a tangible skill. And dancing is so much more than a skill, it is a gift. Most people have hopefully had the chance to boogie somewhere but the joy of co-creating on the dance floor is a whole other experience.
Partnered dance is such a blast and there are so many styles to choose from...
If not West Coast, then maybe East Coast Swing ?
Or the energetic and playful Lindy Hop?
How about the sexy and passionate Argentinian Tango?
Perhaps the classic dances of Ballroom (Foxtrot, Waltz, Ballroom Tango, Rumba etc)?
Don't forget the ever-popular Salsa?
Or for something less structured and highly intuitive... Contact Improv?
And don't get me started on the many forms of solo dance...
Urban Beat Dance
I appreciate the teachers at Urban Beat because they care about their students, they are entertaining, pace the classes well and make it fun. They offer several dance styles, but specialize in West Coast Swing and Salsa. Check out their online schedule of classes…

Dance is a relatively new thing for me, a blissful realm that I discovered in 2003. There were hints from childhood but i never really delved into it until recently. I am a self-taught dancer but taking some West Coast Swing lessons has opened up the world of partner dance to me. I’ve been encouraging friends to try a partnered dance to see where it leads, you just never know.
Here are West Coast Swing clips from YouTube:

Hopefully, we will all make some time in 2007 to explore and expand our movement vocabulary. Regardless of what form it takes, partnered or solo, dancing is a quintessential expression of the human spirit.
As the African Proverb goes:
If you can talk, you can sing; if you can walk, you can dance.
